Who We Are

We invite you to explore the foundational principles that guide our faith and shape our community.

Our Story

How it all started...

Pierce Park Baptist Church (PPBC) was birthed out of a small group Bible study that was held in a day care. In 1990, Pierce Park was formally organized by a founding group of members and led by Pastor Louis Demster to shepherd the growing body of Christ.

The church property was purchased in 1986 by the Treasure Valley Southern Baptist Association with the intent purpose of creating a thriving church where people could connect with other believers and God through dynamic Bible study and worship, grow in their understanding of Jesus, and impact others through working out their salvation in ministry.

Expanding the vision...

In 1996, Pastor Demster retired and Dan Robinson, who also served as a chaplain in the United States Army National Guard, was called to continue leading Pierce Park to become a growing, thriving church.

Through Pastor Dan’s strong leadership, the church experienced solid growth which resulted in the church praying about expanding the campus to create a greater environment for worship, ministry and Christ-centered activities.

In 2003, a 250-seat sanctuary, classrooms, fellowship hall, kitchen, and offices were constructed.

As our Nation entered the Second Gulf War, Pastor Dan felt the Lord’s calling to go and minister to our Nation’s soldiers during this time of conflict.
In preparing for a lengthy deployment in Iraq by Pastor Dan, the church called Bill Young and Tim Peery to serve as co-associate pastors to lead the church during his deployment.
Pastor Dan returned from Iraq in late 2005 and resumed his role as Senior Pastor with co-associate pastors’ Bill and Tim continuing to serve alongside him until his retirement in 2007.

Following Pastor Dan’s retirement, Pastor Bill was called as the interim Pastor while the church searched for the next pastor to lead the church.

In 2008, Bill Young was called as Senior Pastor to lead the church in fulfilling the mission and vision.

In 2013, Pastor Bill urged the church to pray and consider the addition of an associate pastor to serve alongside him in the continued effort to fulfill the mission. In July of 2013, J.W. Hardy was called to serve as associate pastor after his position as the Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at Boise State University came to an end.

The church experienced steady growth and developed many of our ministries under the direction of Pastor Bill. Then, the world shut down in 2020 (Covid-19) which triggered another phase of growth and development.

Where we are headed...

Over the years, God has done plenty of awesome things in the life of our church. Pierce Park has seen lives genuinely transformed, relationships with God deepened, and a loving family of believers faithfully serving the body, our neighborhood, and our community. But we believe the best is yet to come! We have been through numerous phases in growth and development, so we know there is so much more for us to do.

God has given us a big vision and mission that has not been fully realized. So, the time is now that we place greater emphasis on reaching and ministering to the whole family; the young, the experienced, and those in between.

In addition, we are currently implementing phases of a revitalization plan that includes the consideration of the transition of pastoral roles to create stability, momentum, and greater synergy as we move forward by faith.

We believe that God is working in this world and doing great things in and through His church. We are committed to being used by God to make an impact in the world.

Our Mission and Values

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible is the inspired, only inerrant, authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the basis for our beliefs and conduct.

We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (the Trinity). God is both Creator and Redeemer. God is sovereign in the affairs of men and of the entire universe.

We believe Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death on the cross and the atoning work of His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and one day He will personally return to rule and reign over all.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Savior, and at the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ.

We believe that man was created by God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. We acknowledge that all men have sinned and were separated from God, and only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God.

We believe that salvation involves the redemption of the whole person and is offered freely to those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, as well as the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, remember and memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

We believe that it is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ and of our church to endeavor to make disciples of all nations. It is the duty of every child of God to constantly seek to win the lost to Christ by personal effort and by all other methods in harmony with the gospel of Christ.

We are in cooperation with the Treasure Valley Southern Baptist Association, the Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention.

The Southern Baptist Cooperative Program partners with other local churches in supporting six seminaries, over 5,000 missionaries in North America and over 5,000 missionaries around the world.
